OrcaSlicer 2.5.0 Alpha Adds Mixed-Nozzle Support for H2D and X2D

OrcaSlicer 2.5.0 Alpha can assign different diameters to the left and right nozzles on Bambu Lab's H2D and X2D. The feature can combine a fine-detail nozzle with a faster infill nozzle in one job, but the release remains experimental.

Independent trade publication AM Insight Asia reported the change on October 26, 2026, and it is also documented in OrcaSlicer's official release notes. Users can set the left and right nozzle diameters independently on the H2D and X2D—for example, a 0.2 mm nozzle for outer walls and a 0.8 mm nozzle for infill. Line width, infill, supports and ironing are calculated against the nozzle that performs each feature.

After defining each nozzle, users assign them through Filament for Features or color painting. The official guidance recommends percentage-based line widths rather than fixed values, and says Pressure Advance should be calibrated for every material-and-nozzle combination and stored in separate profiles.

The alpha also introduces initial H2C and A2L support, although the H2C filament-path switching hardware is explicitly described as untested. This is an experimental build, so profile backups are advised. Neither a guaranteed print-time reduction nor official Bambu Lab warranty support for this workflow has been established.

Key facts

  • The feature targets the Bambu Lab H2D and X2D.
  • Left and right nozzle diameters can be configured independently.
  • Pressure Advance must be calibrated per material and nozzle-size combination.
  • OrcaSlicer 2.5.0 Alpha is an experimental release.

Context

The workflow can trade fine surface detail against faster bulk infill on one dual-nozzle machine, while increasing the need for profile management and per-nozzle calibration.
