Arkema and Carbon Expand DLS Elastomer Collaboration
Arkema and Carbon are expanding their materials and scale-up collaboration for DLS elastomers, supporting commercial lattice products including Vivobarefoot’s scan-to-print sandal.

According to 3D Printing Industry, Arkema supplies UV-curable base chemistry and scale-up capability, while Carbon formulates elastomers and prints them on its Digital Light Synthesis platform. The companies are extending a collaboration of more than 13 years toward lattice products in footwear, protection and sporting goods.
Vivobarefoot’s scan-to-print Tabi Gen 02 sandal is cited as an example, weighing about 91 g per sandal with a 2 mm sole after moving to Carbon DLS. Claims about performance, waste reduction and faster commercialization come from the companies; the article presents no independent comparison.
Key facts
- The collaboration spans more than 13 years
- Tabi Gen 02 is reported at about 91 g per sandal with a 2 mm sole
- Arkema supplies base chemistry and scale-up; Carbon formulates for DLS
Context
The partnership illustrates materials-printer specialization for scaling lattice products, while performance and environmental advantages still require independent validation.
