Phase3D Introduces New Fringe Inspection Hardware for LPBF
Phase3D has introduced new Fringe Inspection hardware that uses structured light to measure LPBF build-surface height layer by layer, integrating projection, computing, and storage.

Phase3D has introduced new Fringe Inspection hardware for laser powder bed fusion. The system projects structured light onto the build surface and produces quantitative, layer-by-layer height data for investigating powder-bed changes and the location and magnitude of anomalies.
The architecture combines a custom LPBF projector with an industrial PC, GPU, memory, and internal storage in a passively cooled aluminum enclosure. M12 connectors support camera data, power, networking, and I/O, while four hardware-trigger channels accept 5–24 V signals. Software, distance-sensor, and light-sensor triggering are also supported.
This is a product announcement based on a Phase3D press release; claims about volume deployment and repeatability are the manufacturer’s positioning. Public materials do not provide a complete measurement range, cycle time, uncertainty specification, machine-by-machine independent validation, or price. A layer-height map is process evidence, not by itself a final-part acceptance or certification result.
Key facts
- Structured light measures LPBF build-surface height layer by layer
- A custom projector, IPC, GPU, memory, and storage are integrated
- M12 connectivity and four 5–24 V hardware-trigger channels are included
- Phase3D announced the product on October 27, 2026
Context
Integrating measurement, computation, and storage into purpose-built hardware targets easier OEM integration and deployment across multiple LPBF machines.
