IMI and TotalEnergies EP Denmark qualified LPBF nickel-alloy disk stacks for sour-gas service with hydrogen-sulfide partial pressure up to 3.3 kPa. TotalEnergies approved their use in seven anti-surge valves.

According to IMI's case study, the 5.88- to 9.75-inch-diameter parts received a proprietary heat treatment and were tested to DNV-ST-B203 AMC Level 3 and ASTM A262 and G61. The first valve was installed in June 2025.

This is a joint corporate case study rather than an independent long-term field report. Still, the qualification includes testing against published standards and goes beyond a printability demonstration.

Key facts

  • H₂S partial pressure reaches 3.3 kPa
  • Seven anti-surge valves were approved
  • Testing included DNV-ST-B203 AMC Level 3 and ASTM methods

Context

The project demonstrates a standards-based qualification route for replaceable AM valve internals in highly corrosive sour-gas service.
