AIM3D Unveils Aerospace-Process ExAM A 510 for ULTEM 9085

AIM3D has announced an aerospace-process configuration of its pellet-fed ExAM A 510 for ULTEM 9085, developed with AM-MRO. Numerical test results, applicable standards and the scope of any aviation-authority approval were not disclosed.

Nanjixiong reported on October 27, 2026, that AIM3D had qualified an ExAM A 510 configuration and ULTEM 9085 printing process for aerospace use. AIM3D developed the machine and workflow with AM-MRO GmbH, which provides consulting, training and auditing services to aerospace manufacturers, and plans to show the system with aerospace sample parts at Formnext 2026.

According to AIM3D, the process was required to deliver consistent tensile strength in ULTEM 9085 specimens across different machines and build positions, with process parameters documented, standardized and optimized. Modifications include more uniform build-chamber temperature control, monitored material feeding for temperature, dryness and tamper protection, active heating on all sides, and a camera replacing the standard machine's large viewing window.

However, AIM3D did not disclose tensile-strength values, sample count, statistical variation, the governing test standard, a certification document, or the scope of any aviation-authority approval. Claims of slightly higher density than filament-printed parts and easier support removal also come from the manufacturer. The announcement describes process readiness for aerospace applications; it does not mean every printed part is approved for installation on an aircraft.

Key facts

  • The platform is the pellet-fed ExAM A 510.
  • The target material is ULTEM 9085.
  • AIM3D developed the machine configuration and process with AM-MRO GmbH.
  • The company says tensile-strength consistency was checked across machines and build positions.
  • Numerical results, applicable standards and aviation-authority approval scope were not disclosed.

Context

The configuration targets aerospace production with pellet-material economics, but the public test and approval information is insufficient to assess it as a certified aircraft-part process.
