Kratos Orders Eight-Laser AMCM M 8K for Hypersonics Work
The 800 × 800 × 1,200 mm system with eight 1.2 kW lasers will be installed at Kratos' Indiana facility.

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has purchased an AMCM M 8K large-format metal 3D printer from the EOS subsidiary. The machine is planned for Kratos' Payload Integration Facility in Odon, Indiana, supporting hypersonic technology research and production. This is an acquisition announcement from AMCM and Kratos, not evidence of production qualification or output.
The M 8K has an 800 × 800 × 1,200 mm build volume and eight 1.2 kW lasers with flexible beam shaping. AMCM also lists thermal management, optimized process-gas flow, filtration and in-process monitoring. Kratos says the capacity should shorten development cycles and support higher-rate production, but price, commissioning date, specific parts and qualification status were not disclosed.
Key facts
- Build volume is 800 × 800 × 1,200 mm
- The system uses eight 1.2 kW lasers with flexible beam shaping
- Installation is planned at the Payload Integration Facility in Odon, Indiana
Context
The order illustrates defense demand for very large multi-laser AM, while actual program use still depends on commissioning and qualification.
