Nikon SLM Solutions Integrates PanX Metal AM Simulation

Nikon SLM Solutions and PanOptimization have integrated Nikon system templates into the PanX LPBF simulation workflow. The tool is intended to simplify pre-build thermal and mechanical analysis for large parts, although no quantified savings have been published.

3DPrint.com reported on November 3, 2026, on a metal additive manufacturing simulation partnership between Nikon SLM Solutions and PanOptimization. According to the companies’ October 29 announcement, a new PanX release includes validated templates tailored to Nikon SLM Solutions systems, materials, and process parameters.

PanX analyzes thermal and mechanical behavior before LPBF production, helping engineers identify local heat accumulation and regions at risk of distortion. Nikon SLM Solutions cites its large-format NXG XII 600 and new MACHX platform as systems where pre-build simulation can complement machine-level thermal management.

The templates are intended to reduce repetitive setup and input errors, but the companies have not published comparative data for build success rate, computation time, or material savings. This is a software integration announcement, not certification of individual parts or a guarantee of first-build success.

Key facts

  • PanX adds validated templates for Nikon SLM Solutions systems, materials, and parameters.
  • The software analyzes thermal and mechanical behavior before a build.
  • The companies describe use alongside thermal management on NXG XII 600 and MACHX systems.
  • No quantified build-success, time, or material savings have been published.

Context

The integration may standardize preparation for large LPBF jobs, but real-world value will depend on comparative results from representative parts.
