3Descu Opens MCP-Based 3D Printing Quotes to ChatGPT and Claude

An MCP server connects AI assistants to 3Descu’s existing quote engine for STL/OBJ analysis and price estimates.

Romanian 3D printing service provider 3Descu launched an MCP (Model Context Protocol) integration on October 18, 2026 that lets users request manufacturing quotes from ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor and VS Code. 3D Printing Industry reported the release on October 22. The listing appears in the MCP Registry as “io.github.cadi27tech/3descu-quote.”

Users provide a public HTTPS link to an STL or OBJ file on a supported domain, then select a material and quantity. The MCP server exposes four functions covering manufacturing capabilities, available materials, model analysis and price estimation. It can measure volume, bounding dimensions, surface area and mesh watertightness. 3Descu says it uses the same calculation engine as its web service, so the quoted prices should match, and that no account or API key is required.

The automation stops at price estimation: it does not place an order or approve production. The assistant returns a link to 3Descu’s quotation page, and the production team reviews every file before manufacturing. Pricing may change if the review finds mesh problems or requirements needing manual assessment. Claims about price parity, coverage and analysis accuracy come from the company and have not been independently validated. Because model analysis requires a public URL, users should review confidentiality requirements before submitting sensitive designs.

Key facts

  • Launch date: October 18, 2026 (reported October 22)
  • MCP Registry ID: io.github.cadi27tech/3descu-quote
  • Supported formats: STL and OBJ via a public HTTPS link on a supported domain
  • Functions: manufacturing capabilities, materials, model analysis and price estimation
  • Ordering and production approval remain outside the automation, with human review before manufacturing

Context

Direct access to an existing manufacturing quote engine from an AI-assisted design workflow could shorten early procurement work while preserving human manufacturability review.
