AMAXiMAL Releases TopMod 3D v3 for Closed-Surface Topology Modeling
AMAXiMAL has released TopMod 3D v3 for high-genus geometry across browsers, mobile devices and Rhino, while key AI-service terms remain unspecified.

AMAXiMAL has released TopMod 3D v3, a free modeling tool specializing in high-genus shapes with multiple holes, handles and twists. The developer says its two-decade-old topology foundation, built around inserting and removing edges, keeps edited geometry as a single closed surface and can reduce mesh repair before 3D printing.
Version 3 runs in web browsers and on iPhone and iPad, with a Rhino 8 plugin also offered. An integrated Claude AI assistant is described as taking equations or rules, helping with calculations and building the result as editable topology. Each operation remains as a live modifier so the shape can be recalculated after parameter changes. A fabrication module can also divide forms into layers, waffle grids or finger-jointed parts, nest and number them on sheets, and prepare output for CNC work.
Source code is available on GitHub, but the source does not specify the v3 license, supported import and export formats, API requirements, pricing or data handling for the Claude feature, or the price of the Rhino plugin. No independent validation is provided for closed-surface preservation or analysis accuracy, so geometry should still be checked in CAD and slicing software before fabrication.
Key facts
- Runs in web browsers and on iPhone and iPad
- Offers bidirectional synchronization through a Rhino 8 plugin
- Uses Claude assistance to build editable topology from equations or rules
- Includes a CNC-oriented module for sectioning, nesting and numbering sheet parts
Context
The tool could reduce mesh repair and fabrication preparation when moving complex perforated forms into 3D printing or CNC workflows.
