SLA Auxetic Lattice Study Finds Cell Shape Can Quadruple Peak Load

VIT compared star-triangular and re-entrant hexagonal lattices under the same conditions; the best star specimen reached about 2,700 N.

Two geometries were printed four times each in Anycubic Standard Photopolymer Resin on a Creality LD-002R at 0.05 mm layers and compressed at 2 mm/min to 40% height using an ASTM D695-based procedure.

The strongest star specimen reached 3.8 MPa and about 2,700 N, above the best hexagonal result at 0.89 MPa and 660 N. Star results ranged from 0.6 to 3.8 MPa, so larger batches are needed for statistical confirmation.

Key facts

  • Anycubic Standard Photopolymer Resin
  • Creality LD-002R at 0.05 mm layers
  • Top result: 3.8 MPa and about 2,700 N
  • Four samples per geometry

Context

The study suggests strength and absorption can be tuned through lattice geometry without changing resin or process.
